Sponsor Our ArticlesWyndham Clark’s remarkable first round score of 5-under 67 puts him in the spotlight at the 2025 Arnold Palmer Invitational, leading by one stroke. In a day filled with dramatic play, Keegan Bradley and others tied at 3-under provided stiff competition. Defending champion Scottie Scheffler and fan favorite Rory McIlroy are also in the mix. As the stakes rise with a $20 million purse, fans eagerly follow the action live on multiple platforms.
In a dazzling first round at the 2025 Arnold Palmer Invitational, Wyndham Clark has thrilled golf fans with a stunning score of 5-under 67, putting him one shot ahead of the competition. Clark, who has been on a roll lately, showed his prowess on the greens by birdieing three of his last six holes, culminating in a fabulous birdie at the 18th. What a way to finish!
As the sun rose, Keegan Bradley was making waves among the morning crowd. He wrapped up his round with a solid 3-under 69, but little did he know that his score was just the beginning. By day’s end, his score was matched by notables like Corey Conners, Christiaan Bezuidenhout, and Shane Lowry. And speaking of Lowry, he had quite a rollercoaster round, eagling the 16th but finishing on a low note with a bogey at the last hole. Tough luck!
Meanwhile, the tournament is buzzing with excitement featuring some of the finest players in the world. The illustrious Rory McIlroy ended the day T-6 with a score of 2 under, proving yet again why he’s a fan favorite. Scottie Scheffler, the defending champion, and recent strong performer, is sitting at T-11 with a score of 1 under. He has had a strong start to the year, with two top-10 finishes in previous tournaments, but this could be the event where he breaks through.
Other players sharing the T-11 spot with Scheffler include Collin Morikawa and Justin Thomas, both showcasing their skills with scores of 1 under as well. Young golfer Ludvig Aberg, who has made waves this season, is just a notch down at T-15, finishing the day with an even score. An uphill battle ahead, but he’s got the talent to pull it off!
Unfortunately, not all players were as fortunate. Xander Schauffele, making his return after some time off, struggled with a 5-over 77, placing him tied for 52nd. Max Homa didn’t find his groove either, shooting a daunting 9-over 81, and Cameron Young faced a rough start as well with a score of 10-over 82. Sometimes the golf gods just don’t smile down!
The stakes are incredibly high at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, with a jaw-dropping purse of $20 million up for grabs, including a whopping $4 million for the winner. Not to mention, players will be vying for a vital 700 FedEx Cup points which could greatly impact their standings going forward this season. It is absolutely thrilling!
Fans can catch all the action live on the Golf Channel and NBC, with additional streaming options available through ESPN+ and the NBC sports app. The excitement continues as the Arnold Palmer Invitational marks the 10th event in the busy 2025 PGA Tour schedule, which promises plenty more thrilling moments ahead.
Interestingly, this tournament is being contested alongside the Puerto Rico Open. And in a surprising turn of events, prominent players like Rickie Fowler and Jordan Spieth were not granted sponsor exemptions for this year’s tournament. Instead, Justin Rose and Rafael Campos received the coveted spots. Quite a shakeup!
With much more action still to unfold, all eyes will be on the players as the tournament progresses, especially with the next big event, the Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass, just around the corner. Stay tuned, because this is just the beginning of what promises to be an exciting tour season!
