Over the course of two days, the Cavaliers went head-to-head against 13 formidable teams, including No. 29 Florida, No. 15 Ole Miss, and No. 31 Central Florida. It was an intense tournament filled with ups and downs, but Virginia fought hard to finish in an impressive second place with a collective score of 11-over-par (851). Just two strokes away from the host Florida Gators, who clinched victory with a score of 9-over-par (849), Virginia showcased its resilience.

A Rocky Start but a Bright Finish

The tournament didn’t start as smoothly as the Cavaliers had hoped. In the first round, Virginia struggled to find their rhythm, finishing with a score of 291, which put them a daunting 13 strokes behind Ole Miss. The team faced challenges on the course, but there were some standout performances. Senior Amanda Sambach carded an even-par 70, providing a steady presence for the squad, while graduate student Rebecca Skoler posted a respectable 2-over-par.

However, what’s an exciting tournament without a little drama? Virginia found its momentum in the second round, launching into action with an impressive score of 279. With each swing, the team’s determination shone through as they narrowed the gap, trailing only seven strokes behind the leaders. Sambach continued to excel with a 2-under-par performance, while sophomore Jaclyn LaHa contributed with a steady score of 1-under.

The Final Round: A Spectacular Showdown

Heading into the final round, the Cavaliers understood that every shot counted, and they delivered by posting the lowest team score of that round at 281. It was a day that shone bright for Megan Propeck, who had the finest performance of her season, tying for 10th individually with a score of 2-over (212) and finishing her round with an impressive 3-under (67).

However, it wasn’t all smooth sailing as they faced some struggles on the par threes, finishing at 15-over.
