Located in the vibrant city of Tampa, the University of South Florida (USF) is on a mission to find a new addition to its School of Music. The university is currently hiring a full-time, 9-month Professional Audio Engineer to join the ranks as an Assistant Instructor within the College of Design, Art and Performance. As part of this role, you’ll be engaged in teaching two courses each semester, sharing your knowledge and expertise with eager students. The position isn’t just about the classroom, though! You’ll also be in charge of managing an audio recording studio that doubles as a teaching facility. This studio serves as a vital resource for students and is designed to provide practical, hands-on experiences that bolster their education.
The successful candidate will play an instrumental role in shaping the futures of both music majors and design program students. However, it doesn’t stop there! The courses developed will also be available to the general student population, enhancing their learning journey.
One of the highlights of this position includes summer opportunities. You might get to lead academic courses, conduct professional workshops, and even organize clinics or Summer Camps aimed at middle and high school students interested in audio engineering. Talk about making a difference!
To qualify for this exciting position, you’ll need a Master’s degree in music, design, or a related field—or you must have equivalent professional experience. Candidates should demonstrate solid experience in audio recording and sound design mechanics. A certification in Audinate Dante levels 1-3 is also a must, but don’t worry—you can complete it by the time you start working! Prior teaching experience in audio and/or design at either the collegiate or secondary school level is required.
If you have a terminal degree in a related field, that’s even better! Additionally, experience in video and lighting design will be a distinct advantage, making your profile shine even brighter to the hiring committee.
