Edwards, Colorado: Troon Expands Its Footprint with New Club Acquisition
In a strategic move that’s got the golf world buzzing, Troon, the renowned golf course management company, has made headlines by acquiring The Club at Cordillera, a private golf club located in beautiful Edwards, Colorado. This gem of a property sits nestled in the heart of the Vail Valley, a mere 120 miles west of Denver, making it a prime destination for golf enthusiasts and nature lovers alike.
A New Milestone for Troon
The announcement came just a few days after the deal was finalized on December 10, with Troon now assuming full ownership of this breathtaking club, which boasts three incredible 18-hole golf courses known as the Valley, Mountain, and Summit. Not to mention, the property also features three clubhouses and a host of other extravagant amenities.
Before the acquisition, Troon had been managing The Club at Cordillera through its Troon Privé division since January 2013. So, it’s safe to say they know this property inside and out! Troon purchased the club from Wind Rose Holdings LLC, although the exact purchase price remains under wraps.
What’s Next for The Club at Cordillera?
With an exciting future ahead, Troon has plans for further enhancements at The Club. After completing a multi-million-dollar renovation of the Valley Club earlier this year, they are eyeing a bunker renovation for the Valley Course, designed by famed architect Tom Fazio, set to kick off in 2025. Talk about keeping things fresh!
In an interview, Troon’s president and CEO, Tim Schantz, expressed his excitement, saying, “The Club at Cordillera is an amazing property with a wonderful membership, many of whom we’ve had the pleasure of serving for a dozen years. We’re excited about the future of The Club, its long-term sustainability, and for the opportunity to continue to provide an outstanding membership experience.”
Stability and Experience in Leadership
For current members and employees, there’s no need for concern regarding the club’s management. The entire management team, including the director of agronomy, David Soltvedt, and general manager, Michael Henritze, will remain in their roles. Henritze, who has been at the helm since the beginning and has two decades of experience with Troon, emphasizes that the company has brought stability and a relentless pursuit of excellence to The Club.
“This is an exciting announcement for everyone involved with The Club at Cordillera, including members, employees, and community partners,” Henritze remarked. “Now as sole owners, Troon’s unwavering commitment to quality and passion for service will seamlessly continue.”
More Than Just a Golf Course
The Club at Cordillera is not just another golf course; it’s one of the largest exclusive golf communities in North America. Spanning over 7,000 acres, this remarkable property is designed by legends like Hale Irwin, Jack Nicklaus, and of course, Tom Fazio. That’s a pretty impressive line-up!
Troon’s Growing Influence in the Golf Industry
With this latest acquisition, Troon now owns six properties across five states, enhancing its already extensive management and hospitality services portfolio. They currently manage over 900 locations in 45 states and 35 countries, including popular destinations like Troon North Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona, and St. Johns Golf and Country Club in St. Augustine, Florida.
As the dust settles from this latest acquisition, one thing is clear: Troon is positioned for an exciting journey ahead, and The Club at Cordillera will undoubtedly thrive under its stewardship. Golf enthusiasts, mark your calendars—the future is looking bright!
