Are you ready, Tampa? The Straz Center’s Opera Tampa is going all out to celebrate its 30th anniversary season in a big way! With a lineup that mixes the classic with the contemporary, this season promises to be a delightful treat for opera lovers of all kinds.
The season kicks off with Benjamin Britten’s haunting masterpiece, The Turn of the Screw, set to be performed on November 21 and November 23, 2025. If you enjoy a good psychological thrill, this is one to watch!
Then, get ready for a bit of fantasy and adventure with Mozart’s ever-popular The Magic Flute, which will grace the stage on February 27 and March 1, 2026. Fans of whimsical stories and stunning music will not want to miss this one!
One of the most exciting highlights of the season is the modern operatic adaptation of The Shining, based on Stephen King’s spine-tingling novel. This unique performance, composed by Paul Moravec with a libretto by Mark Campbell, will be taking place on Friday, January 30, 2026, at 8 p.m. and Sunday, February 1, 2026, at 2 p.m. in the Ferguson Hall. Expect chills and thrills as you immerse yourself in this chilling tale transformed into operatic form!
As the season wraps up, catch the powerful and dramatic Macbeth by Verdi on April 24, 2026, for the night show and April 26, 2026, for the afternoon performance. It’s sure to leave a lasting impression with its gripping story and incredible music!

For newcomers, season tickets for the four-show package will be available, ranging from $136.40 to $569.80. Individual opera tickets will go on sale on August 1, 2025, so you’ll want to make sure you mark that date on your calendar!
