The city of Tampa is celebrating the holiday season with the launch of an exciting new event at The Florida Aquarium: YuleTides. This immersive holiday celebration, inspired by coastal traditions from around the globe, invites families and friends to come together for an unforgettable experience filled with festive decor, interactive activities, and special guests.
YuleTides features a range of attractions designed to delight visitors of all ages. A standout element is the impressive Reclaimed Beach Treasures Tree, an elaborate holiday tree crafted from upcycled beach toys. This creative display not only brings a festive flair but also highlights The Florida Aquarium’s commitment to sustainability.
As guests walk into the aquarium, they will also be greeted by a magnificent lighthouse, which stands around 20 feet tall. Adorned with seashell garland and seaside lanterns, this iconic structure serves as both a welcoming beacon and the signature symbol of the event.
This year’s highlight includes the popular Tree Regatta, where visitors can explore a trail of themed trees designed to honor Tampa Bay’s beloved boat parade tradition. These unique “floating” trees provide a scenic backdrop for holiday photos.
Fans of Santa Claus will have the chance to meet him in person at Santa’s Winter Wharf, where he will be dressed in an elegant ocean-blue robe decorated with rhinestones. Santa will be available for photos, which are free for members and included with general admission on select dates between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Children will especially enjoy Cookie Decorating with Mrs. Claus, where they can create delicious sea star-shaped cookies complete with toppings. This interactive experience is sure to become a cherished holiday memory.
For those seeking a seasonal treat, a hot chocolate bar is available, featuring a variety of toppings such as sprinkles and brownies. Guests aged 21 and older can indulge in festive cocktails like the Reindeer Blitz, Spicy Mimosa, and Mistletoe Margarita.
Live performances also play a major role in the festivities. The Coralers, a talented group of carolers, will entertain guests with marine-themed renditions of classic holiday songs. Scheduled performances will occur at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m. on select dates, encouraging everyone to join in the fun.
Additionally, talented students from Hillsborough County schools will grace the aquarium’s rooftop stage to perform a variety of musical pieces, including choirs, jazz bands, and orchestras. This community involvement adds a heartfelt touch to the event.
Outdoor activities on the waterfront patio will also encourage family fun, with lawn games like cornhole and giant Jenga. Children can participate in free craft activities, such as making fingerprint ornaments and decorating seashells.
YuleTides at The Florida Aquarium is included with general admission and runs until January 5, 2025, excluding December 25. With exclusive events and activities every weekend, it’s a not-to-be-missed holiday attraction in Tampa.
