Sponsor Our ArticlesA shocking incident unfolded in Tampa on February 13 when a group of teens violently attacked two victims at Davis Islands Dog Park. The attack, which began with a rock throw and escalated into the assailants dragging the victims from a vehicle, has left the community reeling. Five teens have been charged, including attempted murder and aggravated assault. Investigators are exploring potential motives linked to prior arguments, while videos of the event have exacerbated concerns over youth violence.
Tampa was rocked by a shocking incident on the night of February 13, when a group of teenagers carried out a violent attack at the usually serene Davis Islands Dog Park. The chilling event unfolded around 10:30 p.m. during a gathering that started as a friendly bonfire but quickly spiraled into chaos.
In total, five teens have been charged as adults by the Hillsborough State Attorney’s Office. The group includes Jacob Ely (17), Owen Callahan (17), Orian Robinson (18), Grayson Shearer (15), Joseph Gesuale (15), and Jace Villanueva (16). Each of them now faces serious legal consequences for their actions that night.
The turmoil began when Jacob Ely allegedly hurled a large rock at a black Ford pickup truck, where two teenage victims sat inside. Following this startling move, Ely and his fellow accomplices climbed into the vehicle and launched into a violent attack on the passenger. Reports indicate that the assailants forcibly dragged both victims out of the truck.
Things took a turn for the worse as the passenger lost consciousness during the onslaught, reportedly after being struck by the very rock thrown by Ely. To make matters even more intense, Gesuale was seen brandishing a knife, threatening the second victim in the process. Thankfully, while the first victim was treated at a local hospital for serious but non-life-threatening injuries, the second victim managed to escape without physical harm.
Investigators are piecing together details around the violence, suspecting it may be connected to an argument that took place earlier in the week outside Tampa’s city limits. This context raises pressing questions about the undercurrents of tension among local teens.
Police have obtained several videos captured on cell phones, showcasing the brutal attack, which has only heightened the concerns surrounding youth violence in our community. Given the severity of the incident, the suspects face a range of serious charges. Jacob Ely, Joseph Gesuale, and Jace Villanueva have been slapped with charges of attempted first-degree murder, alongside aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Meanwhile, Orian Robinson is facing charges for felony battery and burglary with a battery.
A judge will soon decide whether the defendants will remain in custody until their trial starts. It’s a scenario that many are watching closely, hoping for a firm stance against such reckless behavior in our neighborhoods.
The local Police Department is urging anyone with information or further video evidence to come forward. The incident has not only rattled the immediate community but has also ignited fears concerning safety and the behavior of teens in public spaces. The police chief has expressed the sentiment felt by many, condemning the attack as a brutal and senseless act that has no place in our community.
As Tampa grapples with the fallout from this alarming event, residents are left wondering how something that started as a typical gathering among friends turned into a frightening episode of violence. It’s a potent reminder that we must strive to ensure our parks and public areas remain safe havens for all.
