In Tampa, Cadmus Dental Lab, a company specializing in dental prosthetics, is gearing up for significant growth. The firm has recently signed a lease for 21,400 square feet at 5701 East Hillsborough Avenue, located in the NetPark business park. This expansion comes as Cadmus plans to increase its workforce from 50 employees to 100 over the next three years.
Founded by Kelly Boyd-Rivera, Cadmus Dental Lab is expected to achieve $60 million in revenue by December 2024. The company provides various dental products, including implants, crowns, bridges, dentures, and orthodontic appliances, catering to dental practices around the world. In a recent interview, Boyd-Rivera expressed optimism about the company’s future, emphasizing its commitment to a global footprint.
This month marked the launch of Cadmus Academy, a nonprofit aimed at offering free education to partner dentists. Many dental students graduate lacking the essential education required to thrive in their careers. Boyd-Rivera sees the academy as an opportunity to give back, intending to host quarterly summits at their new facility, accommodating 100 to 300 doctors.
Despite its commitment to remain headquartered in Tampa, Cadmus is strategically focusing on expanding its manufacturing capabilities internationally. Boyd-Rivera noted the importance of having manufacturing options outside the U.S., citing potential tariff impacts from the upcoming U.S. elections. Current trials are underway in Vietnam, with plans to explore locations in Scotland, Croatia, Cairo, and India for a global supply headquarters.
Cadmus Dental Lab has experienced remarkable growth since opening its doors in January 2022. The company originally moved into an 8,000-square-foot facility, but rapid growth—approximately 600% over the last year—prompted the need for a larger space. As of the last report, employee counts rose to 57, with plans to hire an additional 100 employees next year.
Boyd-Rivera has emphasized the crucial role her team plays in overall operations. Recently, approximately 20% of employees faced severe losses due to hurricanes. In response, Cadmus initiated a GoFundMe campaign to assist affected employees and received generous support from both vendors and customers. “These employees are our unsung heroes,” said Boyd-Rivera, highlighting the community’s compassion.
Looking ahead, Boyd-Rivera expressed a desire to build a lasting legacy not only for her family but also for her employees. Inspired by her father’s lessons on the importance of giving back, she hopes to create a significant impact on the dental industry and beyond. Although life has presented numerous challenges, she aims to help others, particularly women seeking to overcome abusive relationships.
Cadmus Dental Lab’s journey reflects a strong commitment to innovation, community support, and global growth. With plans for expansion and a focus on education, the company is preparing to make a lasting impact on the dental industry, while remaining dedicated to its roots in Tampa.
