The Peed family, who also run Sandhills Global and the Dormie Network encompassing courses like ArborLinks in Nebraska City and GrayBull near North Platte, aims to create a unique golfing experience that complements the local golf community.

Planning Approval and Next Steps

The local planning commission has already granted a special permit and approval for on-premise alcohol sales, making it easier for visitors to enjoy a cold beverage while swinging their clubs. For those a bit skeptical, don’t worry! If any neighbors have concerns about traffic and water usage affecting local wells, they have until February 19 to appeal these decisions, which can then unfold before the Lincoln City Council.

What to Expect When You Tee Off

While it won’t open its doors to the public just yet—initial access will be reserved for the Peeds and their guests—there are exciting plans in the pipeline for practice rounds with the University of Nebraska and Lincoln Pius X golf teams as well as charity events. That means, even though the course isn’t completely open yet, the community will still have opportunities to enjoy its facilities!

All About the Course’s Layout

The construction is anticipated to take about two years. When it’s finally done, golfers can look forward to a range of amenities. There will be everything from a maintenance building to an on-course beverage station, restrooms, and an irrigation pump house. Future phases may also bring even more excitement with a possible clubhouse and lodging for those needing an extended stay on the green!

A Historic Addition to Local Golf

Are you a history buff? Well, Battle Run is especially significant because it will be the first new 18-hole course built in Lincoln since Wilderness Ridge Golf Club opened in 2001. In fact, over these past couple of decades, three golf courses have closed their doors – Yankee Hill Country Club, The North Forty, and The Knolls.
