New Tampa, FL — A devastating incident occurred on December 18, 2024, as the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) responded to a shooting that led to a murder-suicide in a local neighborhood.
At approximately 6:31 p.m., the HCSO Dispatch Center received a 911 call reporting a shooting in the 18000 block of Royal Forest Drive. Upon arriving at the scene, deputies discovered Steven Glantz, a 67-year-old man, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Emergency medical services transported Glantz to a nearby hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Surveillance footage from the area captured a suspect approaching Glantz’s residence, followed by the sound of multiple gunshots. The same individual was seen fleeing the scene on foot.
The investigation led deputies to find Timothy Lobianco, a 66-year-old man and neighbor of Glantz, nearby with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
This tragic event unfolded in a quiet neighborhood in New Tampa, specifically on Royal Forest Drive, an area now marked by the profound shock and grief felt by its residents.
The shooting occurred just before 6:30 p.m. on December 18, 2024, but investigators are still trying to understand the motives behind this tragic event. Law enforcement officials have confirmed that Glantz and Lobianco were neighbors, which raises questions about the circumstances that led to such senseless violence.
As of now, no clear motive has emerged, and the HCSO is actively working on the case. “Our hearts go out to the victim’s family during this unimaginable loss,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. He described the incident as a painful reminder of the devastating effects of senseless violence on the community, emphasizing the HCSO’s commitment to supporting the grieving families during this incredibly difficult time.
This situation is still under active investigation, and further updates will be provided by the HCSO’s Public Affairs Office as more information becomes available. The sheriff’s office has promised to keep the community informed about any developments in this tragic case.
Residents are left grappling with the shock of the event, raising concerns over safety and the impact of violence in their community. The local authorities have reassured the public that they are dedicated to uncovering the truth behind this heartbreaking occurrence.
As the investigation continues, the community is mourning the loss of a life taken too soon. Friends and families are encouraged to seek support during this challenging period. The HCSO is providing resources for emotional support to those affected by this tragedy.
