Kim also found himself under the mentorship of Joseph Mayo, a coach who previously guided Viktor Hovland. Their collaboration paid off significantly, particularly in improving Kim’s chipping skills. The results were evident, as Kim is now ranked 22nd in strokes gained around the green. His chipping has become a real asset, turning those crucial shots into opportunities for scoring.

A Promising Season Ahead

Fast forward to the 2025 PGA Tour season, and it appears Kim’s hard work is truly paying off. In just seven starts, he has already earned more than he did in the entirety of 2024, where he played 23 additional events. Talk about a comeback!

Early Challenges Do Not Deter

It wasn’t all smooth sailing initially, as Kim started the season a bit rocky, missing the cut at the esteemed Sony Open in Hawaii. However, instead of being discouraged, he bounced back. Since that initial setback, Kim has achieved an impressive four top-15 finishes across six events. His best performance so far came with a T2 finish in Arizona, only behind the talented Belgian golfer, Thomas Detry.

Pushing onward, Kim also secured a T13 finish at the Genesis Invitational and followed that up with a T6 at the Cognizant Classic, showcasing his improving form.
