Florida State Golfer Luke Clanton Hits a Hole-in-One with PGA Tour Card!

Excitement filled the air at the 2025 Cognizant Classic as Florida State junior Luke Clanton officially punched his ticket to the PGA Tour. With a thrilling performance that showcased his incredible talent, Clanton made the cut and secured the final points needed through the PGA Tour University Accelerated program. This marks a significant milestone in his young career as he gears up for the professional ranks!

A Fantastic Finish to a Stellar Tournament

Clanton stole the spotlight with a sensational 5-under 66 on Friday, completing the tournament with a total score of 9-under par. The fans were on their feet as Clanton birdied the eighth hole, smoothly gliding to 4-under for the day while chants of “Luuuuuuuuuuuuuuuke” echoed through the greens. His family and friends rallied behind him, cheering him on close to his childhood home in South Florida, adding to the electrifying atmosphere.

After opening the tournament with a solid 67 on Thursday, Clanton faced a minor setback with an early bogey on Friday. However, his fierce determination shone through as he rattled off four consecutive birdies, demonstrating just why he’s regarded as one of the brightest stars in college golf. Although he stumbled with another bogey on the 15th hole, a long birdie putt on 16 and a finishing birdie on 18 wrapped up a remarkable performance that landed him tied for ninth, just four shots off the lead.

Making History and Finding Success

This monumental achievement represents the eighth cut made by Clanton in just twelve PGA Tour outings. It wasn’t an easy road for the aspiring professional, starting from ground zero last June with zero points. Fast forward to now, and he is only the second player in history to reach the 20-point threshold through the Accelerated program. His final point came from his proven prowess on the PGA National Resort and Spa Champion Course, a familiar friend having played it around 40 times.

Looking Ahead

Clanton is set to formally accept his PGA Tour membership in June 2025 after the NCAA championships, but his eyes are currently focused on clinching a national championship with his Florida State team. Though he has already accomplished so much, the hunger for victory propels him forward. With a history of being ranked at the top amongst amateur golfers and having etched his name in the record books with three individual state championships in high school, Clanton has consistently exhibited his elite golfing skills.

His college career has also been impressive, leading his team to a national runner-up finish. Clanton’s journey has seen him secure four top-10 finishes and two runner-up placements in his outings this past season, showcasing his undeniable talent and resilience. Despite facing initial struggles with consistency, Clanton has worked hard to improve his driving game, firmly establishing himself as a contender.

A New Chapter with Nike

In the midst of this whirlwind success, Clanton recently signed a deal with Nike, donning the brand’s latest gear during the tournament. It’s a perfect match for his rising star status, blending style with performance on the course! As he transitions into this new chapter in his career, it’s heartwarming to see how fans, family, and fellow competitors have rallied around him, celebrating not just his successes but his character and kindness.

With all eyes on Clanton, it’s clear he’s ready to make waves in the world of professional golf. From the greens of Florida State to the greens of the PGA Tour, the future looks bright for Luke Clanton!
