News Summary

A recent survey reveals that 81% of U.S. golfers feel optimistic about the economy, leading to increased travel plans for golf enthusiasts. As a result, more than 44% of participants intend to spend more on golf trips in 2025, with popular destinations including Scotland, Ireland, and Southeastern U.S. states. The global golf tourism market, valued at $23.14 billion in 2023, is projected to grow significantly, heralding a revival of golf adventures post-pandemic.

Golfers Are Getting Excited: Economic Optimism Sparks More Travel Plans

Golf enthusiasts across the United States are feeling a newfound sense of hope when it comes to their finances, and this optimism is translating into plans for golf travel like never before! A recent study from Buffalo Groupe surveyed more than 700 golfers who have either played golf in the past year or embarked on a golf trip in the past five years. The results are both fascinating and inspiring.

Feeling Good About the Future

It seems that golfers are looking ahead with a bright outlook. A whopping 81% of golfers reported feeling optimistic about the economy, a delightful jump from just 56% in 2023. This surge in positive feelings isn’t just a random occurrence; it reflects a growing confidence among those who love to tee off. To sweeten the deal, 21% of participants expressed a sense of financial well-being, suggesting that more golfers are ready to treat themselves to some much-deserved outings.

Travel Plans on the Rise

When it comes to golf travel, the excitement continues to grow. Around 44% of participants indicated they’ll be spending more on golf trips in 2025, while just under half of the golfers plan to maintain their current spending levels. With so many ready to open their wallets for great experiences, it seems that the golf tourism industry is set for a bounce-back.

International and Domestic Destinations Galore

So, where are these optimistic golfers planning to go? The study found that Scotland and Ireland topped the list as the most sought-after international destinations for golf lovers, probably because who wouldn’t want to play a round on those stunning, historic courses? On the home front, golfers are flocking to Southeastern U.S. states like Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Virginia, which are proving to be hot spots for unforgettable golf outings.

The High-rollers Take the Greens

Among golfers with serious cash to spend—those known as high-budget travelers who spend $10,000 or more annually—traveling frequency is also notably high. These players venture out on average six times a year, with three trips focused solely on golf and the other three combining golf with other adventures. Interestingly, this elite group tends to be over the age of 55, demonstrating that a love for the game knows no age limit!

Golfing Is Back on the Map

The global golf tourism market is already booming, valued at a stunning USD 23.14 billion in 2023 and predicted to grow at a solid rate of 7.4% through 2029. This enthusiasm is fueled by factors such as a rise in both domestic and international tournaments, increased investment in sports infrastructures, and the growing ranks of golfers eager to explore new courses.

Reviving Post-Pandemic Adventure

While the pandemic initially sunk golf tourism numbers, we’re now witnessing a remarkable rebound in interest in outdoor sports. This revitalization is a breath of fresh air, with the golf tourism market projected to skyrocket to USD 41.87 billion by 2030. North America is leading the charge, accounting for around 41% of the global golf tourism market share. Moreover, the U.S. golf tourism market constitutes about 71% of that North American pie.

Global Trends and Exciting Future

Across the pond, Europe shines with its historic golfing ties, particularly in the UK, Scotland, and Ireland, which attract golfers from all over the globe. Meanwhile, the Asia Pacific region is catching up quickly, with a projected growth of 10.3% from 2025 to 2030, thanks to the increasing popularity of golf in countries like Japan, South Korea, and Thailand.

A Thriving Competitive Landscape

As the golf tourism market grows, many prominent players are making their mark, such as Golfasian Co., Ltd., Premier Golf Tours, and PerryGolf. With so much enthusiasm buzzing in the air about golf, it’s no wonder that travel plans among golfers are taking off. Now is an exciting time to be part of the golfing community, whether you’re on the course or planning your next adventure. Pack those bags, grab those clubs, and get ready for a fun-filled golfing journey!
