Tallahassee Welcomes New Addition to 2025 Recruiting Class

TALLAHASSEE – The Florida State Seminoles have successfully added another talented player to their 2025 recruiting class by flipping Sean Poret, a promising offensive lineman from Riverwood High School in Sandy Springs, Georgia. Poret, who stands at 6 feet 5 inches and weighs 270 pounds, was previously committed to the University of South Florida (USF) until recently.

Details on the Commitment

Poret is a three-star interior offensive lineman, and he has been rated as the No. 898 player nationally in the On3 Industry Ranking. Additionally, he ranks as the No. 31 interior offensive lineman in the Class of 2025 as well as the No. 59 player in Georgia, according to On3. 247Sports Composite places him at 1024th nationally, ranking him 67th among interior offensive linemen and 117th in Georgia.

He chose Florida State after receiving numerous offers from over two dozen schools, including the likes of Boston College, Duke, James Madison, Memphis, NC State, SMU, Tulane, and Vanderbilt. His impressive performance in the classroom has also led Poret to receive offers from Ivy League schools such as Yale, Brown, Cornell, and Dartmouth.

Why FSU?

The recruitment process picked up momentum for Poret after his *official visit* to Tallahassee during the UF game, where the Seminoles made a strong impression. Coach Mike Norvell and his team prioritized Poret after some turnover within their offensive line class, sparking the change in his commitment.

Before officially flipping to Florida State, he had been committed to USF since June 24. His recruitment story showcases how a program can shift its focus and adapt to find the right players for its needs. Poret’s decision reflects a broader trend in college football recruiting, where athletes often reconsider their options later in the process.

On-Field Performance

Poret showcased his abilities on the field during his junior and senior seasons at Riverwood, where he totaled 61 tackles and 3.0 tackles for loss across 19 games. In his final season, he notched 37 tackles, along with 2.0 sacks and maintained his status as a first-team all-region selection in both 2022 and 2024. This on-field productivity and accolades attest to his potential as an interior offensive lineman.

More than Just Football

In addition to football, Poret is also a talented basketball player, demonstrating his versatility as an athlete. The combination of his academic achievements and athletic prowess makes him a valuable addition to the Seminoles, as the coaching staff looks to build a strong and well-rounded roster for the future.

Conclusion

The acquisition of Sean Poret marks yet another significant milestone in the Seminoles’ efforts to enhance their offensive line depth as they prepare for the competitive landscape of college football in the coming years. As Florida State continues to build its 2025 recruiting class, the addition of a player with Poret’s capabilities is a promising sign for the program’s future.
