Sponsor Our ArticlesFlorida gas prices experienced a slight decline with an average of $3.07 per gallon, down $0.03 from last week. However, economic anxieties persist, and nearly 17.5% of gas stations are currently out of fuel, creating challenges for drivers. Regional variations exist, with West Palm Beach prices over $3.20, while Crestview-Fort Walton Beach prices drop to $2.82. Diesel prices are also experiencing a dip, providing some relief. Authorities are addressing fuel shortages with initiatives like offering up to 10 gallons of free gas at designated sites.
Florida residents, hold onto your wallets! Although gas prices in the Sunshine State have seen a slight decline, economic anxieties continue to loom large. Over the past week, prices dropped by just $0.03 per gallon, settling at an average of $3.07 per gallon according to the experts at AAA. While that might sound somewhat promising, there’s a lot more to the story!
If you’re driving through Florida, be prepared for some price variations. The most expensive gas can be found in the West Palm Beach area, where prices can creep above $3.20 per gallon. Ouch! On the flip side, if you’re in the Crestview-Fort Walton Beach area, there’s a silver lining—prices there are only $2.82 per gallon. Not too shabby, right?
Across the state, prices have been relatively steady, averaging around $3.06 per gallon for the past month. When compared to last year, gas prices are down by more than a quarter, which might sound like a win, but don’t let your guard down!
In the bustling Tampa/St. Petersburg area, the average gasoline price hovers around $3.12, showing just a tiny decline of approximately $0.01 per gallon. However, let’s not forget that this still represents a drop of $0.22 from prices seen in 2024. It’s a mixed bag for motorists as they fill up their tanks.
But hold onto your gas caps, because Florida’s average is still above the national average of $3.14 per gallon. Right now, it seems Florida boasts the highest gas prices in the southeastern U.S., with only Maryland and Illinois sharing a similar plight.
Meanwhile, the Fort Myers and Naples region is struggling as well, with approximately 20.8% of gas stations running on empty. Not to mention, in the Orlando to Daytona Beach corridor, around 17.9% of stations are also without gas. And let’s not forget Gainesville, where about 16.5% of gas stations are facing a similar reality—leaving many motorists in a lurch.
Concerns are growing over the lack of generators at many of these stations, especially in areas that felt the brunt of Hurricane Milton. Without these generators, many gas stations are simply left without the means to pump gas during power outages.
With fluctuating prices and persistent shortages, Florida’s gas scene remains a mixed bag with no clear end in sight. For now, drivers will need to watch the pump prices closely while hoping for a smoother road ahead!
