Florida Achieves Fifth Place for Casino Jobs in the U.S.

Florida Ranks Fifth in U.S. Casino Jobs

Florida stands out as a significant player in the gambling industry, ranking fifth among U.S. states for the average number of jobs per casino. Industry analysis from Casino Reports reveals that Florida boasts an astonishing average of 4,859 jobs per casino site, culminating in a total of 72,892 jobs across its 15 casinos. The economic impact of this industry in the state is noteworthy, generating $12.7 billion for the local economy.

Leading Casino Complexes

The largest casino in Florida is the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Tampa, featuring over 5,000 Vegas-style slot machines and more than 110 gaming tables. This establishment is a reflection of the robust gambling scene in the state, drawing in numerous visitors and providing a diverse range of employment opportunities.

Analysis of Job Data

Experts at Casino Reports conducted an in-depth analysis by collecting data from the American Gambling Association, which mapped out casino jobs across the nation. Various states were ranked based on their average number of jobs per casino site. Notably, states with restrictive gambling laws or lacking full data were excluded from this assessment to ensure accuracy.

Top States for Casino Employment

Leading the charge is Connecticut, which claims the highest average of 13,168 jobs per casino site. This figure is attributed to just two casinos creating a combined total of 26,336 jobs and an impressive economic influence of $4.14 billion. The Foxwoods Resort stands as the largest casino complex in Connecticut, housing six casinos and over 250 gaming tables.

Following Connecticut, Massachusetts ranks second with an average of 5,804 jobs per casino site. The state pulls in an economic impact of $3.82 billion through its three casinos, with the Encore Boston Harbor being the most prominent, featuring luxury accommodations, retail options, and dining facilities.

New Jersey claims the third position, averaging 5,759 jobs per casino. The state reports a total of 51,834 jobs across nine casino venues and a significant economic contribution of $11.88 billion. The Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa stands as New Jersey’s top-grossing establishment, offering around 180 table games.

Other States in the Top Ten

North Carolina ranks fourth with an average of 5,058 jobs per casino site, generating $2.65 billion in economic impact through its three casinos. The largest is the Harrah’s Cherokee Casino and Hotel, featuring over 100 gaming tables. Other states that make the top ten include Rhode Island, Maryland, Alabama, Pennsylvania, and Texas.

The Bigger Picture

This analysis offers valuable insight into how gambling affects state economies and job creation. Adam Small, founder of Casino Reports, emphasizes that the casino industry significantly impacts local economies and employment opportunities. “This study highlights the substantial influence of the gambling and casino industries in various states, showcasing the potential for attracting visitors and generating jobs,” said Small.

The future of casino jobs may continue to evolve, with changes in legislation and economic conditions playing a crucial role. It remains to be seen whether these numbers will rise or decline in the upcoming years as the industry adapts to changing circumstances.
