Tampa, Fla. – Cold Weather Shelters Open for the Community
As temperatures in Tampa are predicted to drop into the 40s on Saturday night, local officials are taking steps to assist those in need. Hillsborough County and Sarasota County are implementing cold weather shelters to provide relief for the homeless and residents without adequate heating.

The cold weather shelters program in Hillsborough County will be activated on Saturday due to the expected drop in temperatures. The National Weather Service has reported that local temperatures may fall to or below 40 degrees with a wind chill factor on Saturday night. Where are the Shelters Located?
Four shelters will be available in Hillsborough County for adults only. These locations include:

Sarasota County is also prepared for the cold. The 100 Church located at 14525 Tamiami Trail, North Port, will open its doors for shelter starting at 5 p.m. on Saturday.
When Will the Shelters Open?
In Hillsborough County, shelters will be open for intake from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 21, unless they reach capacity before then. Sarasota’s shelter will begin accepting guests at 5 p.m.
