Tampa’s Cadmus Dental Lab Expands Operations Amid Rapid Growth
Cadmus Dental Lab, a leading provider of dental prosthetics, is making significant strides in its operations with plans to broaden its workforce and augment its facility in Tampa. The business has signed a new lease for a spacious 21,400 square feet at 5701 East Hillsborough Avenue within the NetPark business park. This expansion is set to facilitate its predicted growth from 50 employees to 100 over the next three years.
Founded by Kelly Boyd-Rivera, one of only three female dental lab owners worldwide, Cadmus specializes in creating dental implants, crowns, bridges, dentures, partials, and orthodontic appliances for dental professionals. The company is projected to achieve $60 million in revenue by December 2024, a remarkable leap forward since its establishment in January 2022.
Community Support and Future Plans
In a bid to give back to the community and support the dental industry, Cadmus dental Lab launched the Cadmus Academy, a nonprofit organization that aims to provide free education to partner dentists. With many dental students graduating without adequate training, Boyd-Rivera hopes the academy will contribute positively to the dental community. “We will host quarterly summits for 100 to 300 doctors at our facility,” she noted.
A Global Perspective
Tampa will remain the hub for Cadmus, but the company is looking to extend internationally, with a focus on establishing manufacturing facilities outside the U.S. This move comes as a strategy to mitigate potential tariff impacts based on upcoming U.S. elections. Boyd-Rivera confirmed that clinical trials are underway in Vietnam, and the team is exploring potential sites in Scotland, Croatia, Cairo, and India for their global supply headquarters.
To handle this ambitious global strategy, Boyd-Rivera emphasized the importance of her team, describing them as her backbone. “My team is my rock,” she stated, identifying key roles within her management team who are critical in spearheading new initiatives.
Addressing Employee Needs Post-Hurricane
This past hurricane season was particularly tough for many employees, with approximately 20% losing their homes and belongings. Cadmus responded by initiating a GoFundMe campaign to assist the affected team members, reaching out to vendors and customers for help. Boyd-Rivera praised the heartwarming generosity of the community, noting that seeing the support was incredibly uplifting.
A Legacy of Empowerment
Looking ahead, Boyd-Rivera aims to build a lasting legacy for her company and its employees. She underscored her desire to create opportunities that empower her team, not just for personal gain, but so they have financial security for their futures. “I want to build a legacy, not only for my children but for my entire team,” she mentioned.
In a personal reflection, Boyd-Rivera, a survivor of domestic violence, shared her journey of resilience and transformation. “If I can turn my life around and run a $60 million company, they can too,” she said, expressing her commitment to encourage other women to reclaim their power and break free from abusive situations.
